Snow Information

• If it snows, the school is highly likely to be open in Kirk Ireton.

• All children in school will need a warm coat, gloves, hat, wellies (already in school), spare socks and spare gloves if possible. They will then be able to play outside in the snow.  A spare pair of trousers and a spare jumper can also be useful if your child gets wet in the snow.

• If you have to drive to school and the weather is making the roads difficult, we fully understand if you need to keep your child off school until the roads are safe, so please do so (but please contact the office to let us know if your child won't be in on time). If your way to school becomes clear later on, you can bring your child in as soon as it is safe to do so.

• Clubs may well be affected, so please be prepared to pick children up at the end of the normal school day if necessary, or arrange for a friend in the village to do so.

• If there is a possibility that the roads might be difficult, please send your child with a packed lunch as the dinners may not get through - if the dinners do arrive, your child will bring their lunch home again and can eat it for tea!

• If it starts to snow during the day, it is always helpful if you can let us know what the roads are like where you are as this helps us to make a decision about whether to send home children and staff who have to drive to school.  Please send us updates via email to the office or dojo so that we keep the phone lines clear.
