The Church
As a church school, we help our children to develop a secure understanding of Christian values. We have a close relationship with Holy Trinity Church which is found just down the road from our school and is an important part of village life. As a school, we use the church for regular church assemblies, led by members of the local clergy team, but we also use the wonderful building for lessons, school plays, musical performances and community events. It is important to us to help the children to feel comfortable and confident with church traditions but also to create happy memories of a wide range of experiences in this wonderful, historic building.
As stated on the Church of England website:
"Church of England schools are established primarily for the communities they are located in. They are inclusive and serve equally those who are of the Christian faith, those of other faiths and those with no faith.
Church schools are recognised for their distinctive Christian ethos and the impact this has on standards and all-round education. The proportions of Church schools regarded as ‘outstanding’ (by Ofsted) is much higher than the national norm and yet the Church schools are fully inclusive."
At Kirk Ireton Primary School we are proud of our distinctive Christian character. Our most recent Church Schools Inspection stated:
‘The School through its distinctive Christian character, is outstanding at meeting the needs of all pupils.’
